Marigold Farm UltraWhite Stud

UltraWhites are a modern sheep breed that are focused on meat production and eating quality. The breed is considered an ‘easy-care’ sheep breed that naturally sheds its wool (no shearing), allowing the animal to put all its energy into growth and carcase traits. UltraWhite ewes also have excellent maternal traits with high fertility and strong mothering ability.

Marigold Farm has been breeding UltraWhite sheep since 2020, and in 2025 registered as an UltraWhite Stud. To establish our stud, we have carefully sourced genetics from the founding stud (Hillcroft Farms), focusing on carcase, growth, welfare, fertility, eating quality and structural traits. Selection pressure on our ewe base then plays a key part in ensuring we produce sheep that flourish in the high rainfall environment of the Preston Valley.

We breed our own rams from the top-performing animals in the stud, with objective measurement and recording of information on these sheep from birth. We also utilise DNA testing and genomics to enhance our physical measurements to produce accurate breeding values (ASBV’s) on each animal within our stud. Data is available on the Sheep Genetics (LambPlan) database. We are also integrating the HF+ (GDF9) fertility gene into our flock and test for this gene as part of out DNA testing.

USBAA Flock Code 0038. Brucellocis accredited. OJD vaccinated.
